Plug-In Electric Vehicles
2011-2012 Rollout

Watch for the roll-out of electric vehicles across BC in the months ahead.

BC Early Fleet Deployment

Mitsubishi iMiEV

The North American model will be available in limited numbers in late Fall 2011. See pricing announcement.

Pilot models are being tested in BC fleets. Current testers are BC Hydro, City of Vancouver, Qualicum Beach and District of Saanich. Mitsubishi is now taking orders for the Canadian launch.

Nissan LEAF

Available in Summer 2011. Sign up with Nissan for updates on availability.

A partnership with Nissan-Renault is making BC a point of launch for the Nissan LEAF. There is opportunity for private and public fleets to get on board through Green Fleets BC.

Chevrolet Volt

Will be released in third quarter of 2011. Sign up with Chevrolet for news on availability.

GM is now taking orders from partners in key regions of Canada for the Canadian launch.

Ford Transit Connect Electric

Launch with lead commercial customers worldwide began in Dec 2010.

Several BC organisations have partnered with Azure Dynamics to help place 60 vehicles in BC fleets through 2011 and 2012. The project is currently awaiting funding to help offset costs.

Mercedes-Benz Smart Fortwo Electric

Early release in 2011; general launch 2012.

Canadian pilot project to launch limited numbers in Toronto and Vancouver in 2011.

Toyoto plug-in Prius

Target market release in 2012.

A pilot car is being tested in a shared partnership between BC Ministry of Energy, BC Hydro, BCIT, University of Victoria and City of Vancouver.
