Ask an Energy Specialist

The Fraser Basin Council invites Indigenous communities in BC to participate in the "Ask an Energy Specialist" Project

Project Overview

"Ask an Energy Specialist" aims to support First Nations communities that have an interest in housing energy efficiency but are in the early stages of planning or implementation. The project will help your community get started on energy efficiency work by offering short-term guidance (3-18 hours) from an Energy Specialist.

How it Works

When you contact us, the Fraser Basin Council will ask you some questions to help get an overview of the energy efficiency work to date and identify specific areas you are looking for guidance.

The areas of support may include:

  • Community Energy Planning
  • Financing and Funding Resources
  • Finding and Selecting Contractors
  • Building Enclosure and Systems
  • Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning
  • Lighting, Appliances and Home Automation
  • Monitoring and Benchmarking Performance
  •  General Energy Management for Housing and Planning
  • Project Management
  • Community Engagement / Working with Residents

When the focus area is decided, FBC will arrange a series of consultancy meetings with an Energy Specialist to help guide your community towards the desired outcome.

About the Fraser Basin Council

The Fraser Basin Council (FBC) is a charitable non-profit organization that brings people together to advance sustainability in the Fraser River Basin and throughout BC. Established in 1997, FBC is a collaboration of four orders of government (federal, provincial, local and First Nations) along with those from the private sector and civil society. We work with people in multiple sectors, helping them find collaborative solutions to today’s issues through a commitment to the social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainability. Our focus is on healthy water and watersheds, action on climate change and air quality and strong, resilient communities and regions.
