Shuswap Watershed Council Seeks Community Volunteers

swc_volunteers_340px.pngThe Shuswap Watershed Council (SWC) is looking for volunteers to serve as community representatives on the SWC as we implement new water quality and safe recreation education programs in the region.

Up to three community representative positions are available, each for a term of up to three years (2016-2018).

Community representatives must:

  • be prepared to commit time and energy to participation on the SWC, without compensation, remuneration or payment of travel expenses, and
  • be committed to examining issues and ideas objectively.

The participation of a community representative on the SWC includes:

  • attendance at quarterly meetings, held within the Shuswap area, and
  • communications by email.

It is desirable for a community representative on the SWC to show that he or she:

  • has a demonstrated track record of commitment to the community, and/or
  • has experience working in a collaborative setting, and/or
  • resides in the Shuswap watershed.

The Shuswap Watershed Council will review all applications and may short-list applicants and follow up with those applicants prior to making final selections for the community representative positions. We thank all applicants in advance for their interest.

About the Fraser Basin Council

The Fraser Basin Council (FBC) is a charitable non-profit organization that brings people together to advance sustainability in the Fraser River Basin and throughout BC. Established in 1997, FBC is a collaboration of four orders of government (federal, provincial, local and First Nations) along with those from the private sector and civil society. We work with people in multiple sectors, helping them find collaborative solutions to today’s issues through a commitment to the social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainability.
