June 2, 2025 @ 11:00 am - June 3, 2025 @ 3:00 pm

The Nechako Watershed Roundtable, in partnership with Nak’azdli Whut’en will be holding their Spring Technical meeting entitled, “Action in the Nechako: Progress and Potential Across the Watershed” on June 2nd & 3rd in Fort St. James.

Day 1 will give participants the opportunity to actively engage with and experience fisheries activities at the Nak’azdli Hatchery and on the waters of Stuart Lake. You will learn about lake changes, river restoration, and have a chance to step-back in time while viewing pictographs – only accessible by boat! Day one wraps up with an evening networking event, followed by a ‘Climate Change in the Nechako Watershed’ presentation by Dr. Stephen Dery, University of Northern British Columbia.

Day 2 the celebration of our collective progress and meaningful partnerships continues. You’ll learn about:

  • NWR youth engagement activities
  • Progress towards a collective climate change adaptation and resilience framework
  • Multi-partner agreements in the watershed
  • An in-progress foreshore integrated management planning project on Francois Lake
  • How beaver dam analogues are contributing to watershed health
  • An insightful geomorphology of the Nechako river project

Plus, we can’t wait to tell you about an incredible paleolimnology project/partnership we’ve been working on!

We hope that you will join us for this two-day event showcasing the incredible work and partnerships taking place to enhance our understanding of and contribute to the health of the watershed.
