Programs and Services

The Fraser Basin Council supports today’s leaders in working for a healthy environment, a vibrant economy and the well-being of BC’s families, neighbourhoods and communities

What We Do

The Fraser Basin Council offers services in three key roles:

  • Facilitator and Strategic Convener
  • Educator
  • Program Manager

A Look at our Work

Over the past 26 years, the Fraser Basin Council has delivered services on a wide variety of collaborative initiatives.

We have a strong track record in facilitating processes and managing programs in areas such as community sustainability planning, disaster risk reduction, climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives, land use management, sustainability education, sustainability indicators and more. We are inspired to work with BC communities and organizations that are advancing sustainability through collaborative action and engagement.

Working Throughout BC

As our name suggests, the Fraser Basin Council has traditionally focused on the communities and watersheds of the Fraser Basin – but we have initiatives in other regions too and those that serve all of BC.

Our multi-disciplinary staff are based in five offices and other locations to support sustainability programs, large and small. We regularly work with governments, public and private agencies, businesses, industries, academic institutions, non-profits and other sectors, and with the many individuals participating in initiatives.

Our Vision

Social well-being supported by a vibrant economy and sustained by a healthy environment.

About the Fraser Basin Council

The Fraser Basin Council (FBC) is a charitable non-profit organization that brings people together to advance sustainability in the Fraser River Basin and throughout BC. Established in 1997, FBC is a collaboration of four orders of government (federal, provincial, local and First Nations) along with those from the private sector and civil society. We work with people in multiple sectors, helping them find collaborative solutions to today’s issues through a commitment to the social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainability. Our focus is on healthy water and watersheds, action on climate change and air quality and strong, resilient communities and regions.
