FBC Youth opportunities, Fall 2025

The Fraser Basin Council has three opportunities for youth to represent their communities and share their sustainability knowledge this fall.

Youth Advisory Committee

The FBC Youth Program supports BC youth to engage in sustainability initiatives, deepen their understanding of complex issues, gain skills and show leadership to serve the places where they live, study, work and play.

To ensure that FBC's work is inclusive of youth voices, our Board has a youth director to include youth perspectives in our decision-making. Our Youth Programs initiatives are actively informed and shaped by our Youth Advisory Committee.

The FBC Youth Advisory Committee is composed of up to 16 youth (aged 16-30) living across BC, who are a voice for youth in their communities on sustainability and climate change issues. Committee members share their unique insights into key sustainability and climate priorities facing their regions and can identify ideas for projects they would like to see FBC initiate that address those specific challenges.

The Committee's high-level input helps shape FBC Youth Program initiatives to better serve youth throughout the Fraser Basin and across the province. Committee members also support fellow youth in implementing exciting sustainability initiatives and in fostering their practical skills and confidence to act on pressing issues in their communities.

The application deadline for joining the Youth Advisory Committee is October 31, 2025.

2025 Chief Roy Mussell Bursary

Applications from Indigenous youth are now being accepted for the Chief Roy Mussell Bursary, which honours the legacy of the Fraser Basin Council's founding Vice-Chair.

The bursary supports young Indigenous leaders in BC (aged 17-30) who are pursuing an educational course or program that will help them reach their goals to advance environmental sustainability and/or reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in the province. Please share!

Apply for the 2025-2026 Bursary award now through November 16, 2025.
