Air Quality Monitoring

The Fraser Basin Council provides secretariat services and support to the Prince George Air Quality Monitoring Group.

The Working Group oversees an air quality-monitoring program in the Prince George airshed as required by the BC Environmental Management Act and, in particular, work to:

  • operate and maintain air quality monitoring sites and ambient air quality monitors in Prince George, BC
  • ensure the monitoring equipment at the specified stations are functioning and accurately recording various air quality parameters on a year-round basis, as well as reporting data to the Province of BC

The Province reviews, analyzes and records the air quality data and recommends any changes to the monitoring program. Air quality data collected in the program is used to support provincial air quality objectives in the airshed.
