SPC NewsSPC helps with evaluating outcomes of the Gas Tax Agreement!by Sonja Mulabdic, posted on April 15, 2014 In early 2014, the SPC team conducted a research study to help UBCM assess the status of BC local governments developing and implementing sustainability planning and meeting the Gas Tax Agreement requirements. SPC findings were integrated into UBCM’s recently published report GAS TAX AGREEMENT: Outcomes Report 2009-2012. BC local governments (municipalities and regional districts) that receive Gas Tax funding are required by the Agreement to demonstrate that they are applying the sustainability elements or principles of Integrated Community Sustainability Planning (ICSP). SPC findings indicate that all BC local governments have met or have a clear timeline for meeting their ICSP requirement either by integrating sustainability principles in their Official Community Plans (OCP), Regional Growth Strategies (RGS), or by developing Integrated Sustainability Plans (ICSP) and other planning documents that have considered sustainability principles. |
